Job Description: Join our team at 1-800-Battery as a Roadside Assistance Technician! In this exciting job, you will be the hero on the road, bringing our main service of quick battery replacements to all kinds of vehicles, anywhere they are. You will also help with other roadside services like changing tires, jump-starting cars, unlocking them, and delivering fuel. This job is perfect for someone who really cares about providing excellent service and making customers happy.

Responsibilities:

• Quickly answer service calls and solve our customers' problems fast and well.
• Install batteries in all types of vehicles, making sure to use the best batteries and do a top-notch job.
• Check the vehicle’s electrical system before and after installing the battery to make sure everything is working right.
• Give great customer service, talk clearly to customers about what you are doing, and answer any questions they have.
• Use our tech tools to let us know when you are available to work, so you are always ready to help our customers.
• Take care of used battery returns in an eco-friendly way, making sure we are doing right by the environment and our customers.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
• Experience with automotive repairs and electrical systems preferred
• Ability to lift heavy batteries and equipment
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Will be a 1099 contractor in an Uber-like manner
• Applicants must possess their own comprehensive set of tools and equipment, as outlined below, to be considered for the position. Candidates are expected to maintain their tools and equipment in good working condition to effectively perform their duties.
• Basic Hand Tools: This includes both Metric and US wrenches, sockets, pliers, and similar items.
• Specialized Tools:
• Torx bits and Triple Square Socket, size 10 mm, specifically for European models.
• Safety glasses and work gloves for personal protection.
• Multimeter or voltage tester for electrical diagnostics.
• Battery maintenance tools, including terminal cleaner, post and terminal cleaning tools, and a Battery Management System (BMS) Testing and Reset tool.
• Car Memory Saver to preserve vehicle electronic settings.
• Heavy-Duty Equipment:
• A minimum 3.0-ton jack, equipped with either a four-way or sockets ranging from 17mm to 24mm.
• Air compressor, essential for inflating flat spare tires, particularly for older model cars.
• Jump box with a minimum capacity of 2000amp for emergency starts.
• Lockout tool kits (excluding Slim Jim tools, as they can damage newer vehicles with intricate wiring systems).
• Fuel Storage: A 2-gallon gas can is the minimum requirement; however, a 5-gallon can is preferred. This is particularly important for some trucks, which may require a minimum of 5 gallons of fuel to start.
• Must have reliable transportation to transport tools and equipment.
• Must have a smartphone with internet access to receive service requests through our mobile application. We offer industry leading pay per installation, and some technicians are earning over $50,000 a year.
